Your Gut & The 5 R’s: Remove, Replace, Repair, Reinoculate & Rebalance

Have you ever had a neighbor with a really ugly looking yard? đź‘€

Weeds are growing everywhere.

The grass hasn’t been mowed in weeks/months.

The grass is dead from not being watered.

The mulch needs to be replaced.

…You can probably get a pretty good image of that right?

Dead grass vs. green grass, 5r protocol analogy: remove the weeds, replace with healthy soil, repair & reinoculate with new seeds, water & fertilizer, rebalance keep the grass lush & green

I like to use this analogy with a lot of my clients with chronic gut issues. This is kinda what the inside of our gut looks like when we experience things like uncomfortable bloating, irregular BMs, stomach pain/discomfort, intolerance to foods, IBS, SIBO, etc..

Now, we can’t go from a damaged, dry, brown lawn to a beautiful, luscious green lawn overnight. We’ve gotta do it in phases!

So, what does that look like?

  1. First, we’ve gotta pull the weeds and mow the overgrown grass.
  2. Then, we’ve gotta water it, fertilize, etc. and have PATIENCE while the good things grow.
  3. Then, we need to know how to KEEP it green once it’s there!

This is what we refer to as a 5R Protocol. There’s 5 “Rs” we need to go through in order to get that nice, luscious green yard or a healed, happy gut! 🙌🏼
